Ionization versus purification

An ionizer separates charged minerals. It does not make contaminants disappear.

Electrolysis changes the relative concentration of ions in two water streams. The alkaline stream can concentrate calcium, magnesium and other positively charged species. That is why pH can increase. It is not evidence that lead, barium, strontium, chromium or other dissolved material was removed from the drinking stream.
